Word for the year 2012 - Believe

Bracelet with the word "Believe"

As the start of the New Year is upon us, we think about what are our goals are and what we would like to accomplish. Some people make New Year’s resolutions and though that is great idea…for most of us, typically we have high hopes and make extraordinary goals, though our hearts are in the right place and  we truly mean well, we tend to overload ourselves. In comes the hustle bustle of life and those resolutions tend to fade over time, then we berate ourselves for not achieving everything we set out to do.

If you are anything like me, you either make the resolutions and eventually forget about them or let them fall by the wayside, or you intentionally don’t make any because you know that you probably won’t end up following through and you don’t want to make yourself feel bad by not accomplishing those chosen resolutions.

Through a very special group of artists and creative souls that are part of my "Fly Tribe" as we call ourselves, I have been made aware of the concept of using just one word that speaks to me, and use that word in all areas of my life - to set goals and work towards accomplishments. This word is my guide light as a lighthouse would be to a ship in the night. I have chosen the word “BELIEVE” for 2012. This post is dedicated my word.

Believe resonates deep down with me, because I believe, in order to make your dreams come true, you have to start with yourself by believing in yourself and believing in the universe that your dreams CAN come true. It’s so easy to let those little voices within to take over and make you question what you are doing, asking if you are doing it right, asking what makes you think can do it, or do you even deserve it. I believe we all DO deserve it. I believe fears are one of the biggest things that hold all of us back and if you can believe that you can do it, it allows you to free yourself of those fears and break out of those chains that are holding you back. We are meant to achieve the highest of aspirations that we set for ourselves, but I know that it doesn’t just happen, we have to live life with purpose, listen to our souls, and MAKE it happen.
Green Name Bracelet - Sara

I have never been satisfied to live a life of mediocrity and I have been searching for “something” for quite some time. You probably know what I mean, you think to yourself, “it’s not that I’m not happy, but is this all there is?” I believe it’s not all there is, that there IS more, and it’s different for every single one of us. What do you think about often? What do you dream about? What do you like to do? Who do you want to be? If you could do anything you wanted all day long, what would that be? Why aren’t you doing it now? What will it take to get there? What makes your sing? Those are the questions that I myself have had often and I’m sure you have to. So, what are you going to do about it?  I know what I am going to do about it.

In the last year, I have gained quite a bit of clarity of what that “something” is and with the word “BELIEVE” guiding me, I am going to set my course and constantly be striving towards the goals that I have set and also use the word “BELIEVE” to be a reminder that at the start of everything, I have to “BELIEVE” in myself and whether it takes 1 year, 2 years, 5 years, or an infinite number of years, I know I will accomplish my goals.

So what is your word for 2012?
